A LABORER was shot to death at Barangay Binubuhan in Bago City, Negros Occidental Sunday, August 12.

Killed was Raffy Carriedo, 35, of the said village.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue Jr., deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station, said Carriedo went to a sari-sari store to buy a cigarette when he was seen by suspect Rowell Garucho, who was reportedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

Garucho then accompanied Carriedo on his way home but he suddenly drew his .38 caliber against the latter.

The victim pushed Garucho and the latter fell on a creek but he managed to climb and fired at him, hitting him on his chest.

Garucho fled towards the sugarcane plantation while Carriedo was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Garucho then surrendered to La Carlota City Police Station several hours later. He was already turned over to the custody of Bago City Police Station.

Trigue said the suspect had previously shot the victim last year but they were able to settle the case.

Police eyed grudge as the motive of the killing.
