THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to find a new location for their satellite office in the city as part of their commitment.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Carl Lopez, was approved during the regular session of the City Council Wednesday, January 29.
Lopez, chairperson of the City Council committee on environment, said LTFRB had an office at Barangay Mansilingan area, but decided to close it to find a new location.
He said the agency's office equipment and supplies are temporarily stored in the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports (Bays) Center at the verbal request of LTFRB Regional Director Richard Osmena.
"It's essential for our jeepney operators to renew their franchises as mandated by law," he added.
Lopez noted that in the interest of convenience and monetary savings of having to travel to Iloilo, an LTFRB office here in Bacolod would greatly benefit jeepney drivers and operators, considering that the city has a huge volume of registered vehicles.
Lopez disclosed that LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III and regional director Osmena earlier promised that their satellite office in Bacolod will operate on a daily basis. (MAP)
