Marañon meets Taiwanese minister

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. met with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) deputy representative minister James Chu and discussed on a possible partnership with the province in the field of agriculture, during the forum and business matching held at L' Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City recently.

The meeting was part of the 27th Visayas Area Business Conference and Expo of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) and other Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) members in the Visayas that gathered businesses representatives, local government units (LGUs), and academe from Western, Central and Eastern Visayas.

Also present in the said meeting were Arsenio Barcelona of Harbest Agribusiness Corp., Alfredo Barcelona of Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Negros Occidental Provincial Consultant on Investment Promotion Rafael Coscolluela, Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino, and Acting Provincial Administrator Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, among others.

The three-day conference and expo that started August 31 and ended September 2 was hosted by the MBCCI and Provincial Government of Negros Occidental with the theme, "Government and Business Partnering for Growth and Development." (PR)
