THE new warden of Metro Bacolod District Jail female dormitory in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City, has assumed her post effective January 1.
This was confirmed on Sunday, January 6, by Senior Inspector Aubrey Gutierrez, former jail warden, who was succeeded by Inspector Ma. Lorelie Dimaculangan.
Dimaculangan was the former assistant jail warden of MBDJ-Special Intensive Care Area in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Upon Dimaculangan's assumption, she met all the jail personnel regarding the programs and activities she plans to implement.
Dimaculangan conducted an ocular inspection to fortify the security of the facility, establish a workplace conducive for the safekeeping and development of the person deprived of liberty (PDLs), and to see what needs to be improved.
She also held a dialogue with the PDLs.
She vowed to continue improving the jail by continuously implementing the guidelines, policies, and protocols set by the national office and by incorporating activities and projects which are deemed beneficial to the safekeeping and development of the PDLs.
"As a registered nurse, I am particular with the well-being of our clienteles which includes their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. Hence, my staff, especially the unit nurse should be expecting the implementation of additional activities geared to provide optimum care to the well-being of our PDLs," she said.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez was transferred to another jail in Iloilo City after she served Handumanan jail for almost two years.
Gutierrez said her transfer was just part of the regular movement in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to officers who had served their posts for two years. (GYM)
