FORMER Bacolod City mayor Monico Puentevella confirmed on Monday, September 3, that their local political group Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan (MKK) will return for the 2019 elections.

"That's what people want, the return of the MKK. Whatever may happen, MKK will return," said Puentevella, who held a press conference yesterday with Councilors Wilson Gamboa Jr. and Claudio Puentevella, his son, at his residence.

He said he has no final pronouncement yet on what position he will seek in the next year's elections.

"I still have my own discernment, but the important is the return of the MKK because our people are looking for the free hospitals, medicines, among others," he added.

Puentevella will announce their complete line-up soon.

Congressman Greg Gasataya had earlier said some members of MKK might join the Grupo Progreso (GP) for the 2019 elections.

Puentevella said it's expected that some of their members will transfer to other political groups.

He said MKK still have the incumbent councilors like Gamboa and his son, Claudio.

Meanwhile, Puentevella said he has not yet received a copy of the ruling of the Sandiganbayan that junked the motion to dismiss his graft case.

Puentevella was accused of purchasing information technology (IT) packages without public bidding in 2002.

In its decision dated August 22, 2018, Sandiganbayan 2nd Division dismissed the motion filed by the former mayor and ruled the evidence presented are prima facie sufficient for conviction.

Puentevella said like in basketball, they are now in last quarter, so watch for the last two minutes because he is still smiling.

"I have not received an official copy of the order, but my lawyer obtained a copy last week. We will rebut these and watch out for the next chapter," he said.
