AN ADDITIONAL 438 medical frontliners in Bacolod City were vaccinated with the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, said as of March 16, a total of 354 medical frontliners assigned at various hospitals were inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine and 84 healthcare workers were also vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine.
He said on Monday, they already completed the first rollout of Sinovac vaccine with 2,350 medical frontliners inoculated.
On Friday, Bacolod City received a total of 156 vials of AstraZeneca vaccine from the national government that were distributed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Riverside Medical Center, Bacolod Adventist Medical Center and The Doctor's Hospital, Inc.
The 156 vials of AstraZeneca vaccine can accommodate a total of 1,560 recipients.
Aside from the AstraZeneca vaccine, Bacolod City also received on Saturday another 840 doses of Sinovac vaccine that will be used for medical frontliners assigned at isolation quarantine facilities, City Health Office, Barangay Health Workers, independent clinics and laboratories.
The AstraZeneca vaccine will be given to medical frontliners ages 60 years old and above.
"We will finish first the vaccination of our medical frontliners who are included in the priority list or listed under Group A. Even us, the EOC members, are still waiting for our turn to be vaccinated since we listed under Group B, as much as we want to, but we wanted to follow the prioritization," Sorongon said.
He said the hospitals will finish the vaccination on Friday.
Sorongon said the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas is also optimistic that there will be more vaccines to be sent in Bacolod since almost one million vaccines from China are expected to arrive in the country.
Meanwhile, an initial 699 medical frontliners at the different hospitals in the province of Negros Occidental have also been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Based on the Bakuna Center Registry Daily Quick Count presented by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, as of March 16, 2021, 679 have been vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines while 20 with AstraZeneca vaccines.
Of those vaccinated, 268 were vaccinated with Sinovac at Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Cadiz District Hospital – 247, Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital Kabankalan – 92, Valladolid District Hospital – 62, and Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital Sipalay – 10.
There were 20 senior citizen health workers already vaccinated with AstraZeneca in Kabankalan District Hospital.
Tumimbang also said they target to vaccinate 2,590 health workers using Sinovac for the first dose and 370 with AstraZeneca.
