A COP assigned at the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company reportedly killed a farmer in Barangay Sagrada Familia, Dumarao, Capiz due to land conflict on Saturday, October 31.
The suspect was identified as Patrolman Mamerto Arellano, 34, while the victim was identified by authorities as Renato Pampag, 43. Both are residents of the said barangay in Capiz.
Based on radio reports, Arellano, who surrendered to the Dumarao Police Station, said while he was walking with his father-in-law and his nephew, the victim approached and attempted to hack him after a heated argument ensued between them.
Pampag died on the spot with five gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.
Arellano has been detained at the Dumarao Police detention cell.
