THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has allocated P1 million for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in four city jails in the province.
Jail Senior Inspector Jimmy Britanico, provincial jail administrator in the province, over an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, said they are still waiting for the approval of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. on which jail should be given the CCTV cameras.
"This is intended for security purposes," he added.
Last February, the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Bago City, received financial assistance of P500,000 from the Provincial Government for the enhancement of the jail facility.
The financial aid includes the procurement of at least 32 high-end Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and two monitors to be installed at the facility.
It will also be used to purchase some equipment for the improvement of the jail.
