NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will meet with all the 31 mayors of Negros Occidental on January 13, 2021, to discuss major issues that needed to be decided this month.
Lacson, during a press conference on Monday, January 11, said there will be three main agendas during the meeting that will be conducted via Zoom.
The governor said he will discuss with the mayors about the purchase of vaccines against the coronavirus. He had already signed an agreement with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Philippines Inc., the pharmaceutical company to supply the vaccines against coronavirus to Negros Occidental.
Lacson added there is also a need to consult with the mayors in the province on the planned move to transfer the Capitol offices to a 25-hectare property it owns in Talisay City.
"The decision on the transfer should be made this month," he said.
Meanwhile, Lacson said he will also consult with the province's chief executives on suggestions to open the borders with neighboring Negros Oriental.
"My opinion is that closure of the provincial land borders will make management of the coronavirus easier," he said, adding that he will consult with Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, the provincial health officer and the head of the Incident Management Team.
"We will see if it is feasible to open our borders, " Lacson said.
