BACOLOD City Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales, newly elected Barangay League president, said on Wednesday, August 8, that the National Executive Board of the Barangay League in Manila required her to submit the annual dues data of all the village chieftains from 2015 to 2017.

Gonzales said she need to comply the requirements so that the National Barangay League will sign her confirmation as the new Barangay League president.

She said she will submit the data to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod then it will be forwarded to the National Executive Board in Manila.

Gonzales noted that outgoing Barangay League president Councilor Noli Villarosa had earlier turned over to her the updated lists of the village chiefs who paid their annual dues amounting P2,000 per year.

Gonzales said the DILG informed her that if they fail to submit the requirements, the National Executive Board will not issue the confirmation.

May Theresa Malongayon, officer-in-charge of DILG-Bacolod, had earlier said it is a prerequisite that the elected Barangay League president should have the confirmation from the National Executive Board of the Barangay League before joining the regular session of the City Council.

She said that based on Civil Service Commission Rules, the Barangay League national has 15 days to act for the confirmation of the elected Barangay League president.

Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Secretary Vicente Petierre III also said it's a requirement of Gonzales to have an oath of office and confirmation from the National Executive Board to assume her post and to join the regular session.
