BACOLOD City Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales, newly elected Barangay League president, attended the regular session of the City Council yesterday.
Gonzales said she received her confirmation from the National Executive Board of the Barangay League Thursday evening through an email.
Gonzales, along with other Barangay League officers also took their oath of office Thursday which was administered by Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod Government Center.
Gonzales said the National Barangay League signed her certificate of confirmation on August 1, but they hold its issuance due to their pending unsettled barangay league dues amounting of P91, 500 from 2014 to 2018.
She said she promised to the National Barangay League that they will settle their account within a month.
"If I fail to settle the account, I cannot vote for the national barangay league election on August 28," she added.
The National Barangay League had earlier required Gonzales to submit the annual dues data of all the village chieftains.
Gonzales said she occupied her office at the Bacolod Government Center yesterday and she will discuss with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran the rules and guidelines of the City Council.
She said she's happy to be part of the City Council and she will always be ready and prepared for the session.
Gonzales disclosed that she will convene all the village chiefs next week to discuss all their concerns.
