THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) is verifying if there is also recruitment of students in the province for the "Red October" ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., director of Nocppo, issued a memorandum order to police chiefs and other law enforcers on the field to check if the said recruitment exists in their respective areas.
On October 3, a military official said that the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, New People's Army (NPA), allegedly hold recruitment in 12 universities and four other higher education institutions in Metro Manila as part of the "Red October" ouster plot against Duterte.
Although they have not received any report about the said recruitment here, Castil said they will monitor and validate it.
He added that recruitment to join the revolutionary movement has been done ever since, though he is not sure if they are recently recruiting for the ouster plot.
"We will try to check," he said.
Meanwhile, Castil advised the students to focus more on their studies instead of joining groups that could deceive them.
Children should give importance to the sacrifices and hardwork of their parents just to send them to school, Castil said.
We should not let others make us "victims" of deception, he added.
In an earlier interview of SunSar Bacolod to Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, he said that he does not believe about the "Red October" ouster plot but in case it will happen, they are ready.
