THE Philippine Airlines (PAL) will hold a free concert on the eve of the 39th MassKara Festival at the ground of the Government Center, Bacolod City on Sunday.
Jose Perez de Tagle, vice president for Corporate Communications of PAL, said they are excited to be part of this year's staging of MassKara Festival celebration.
"We, in PAL as the flag carrier of the Philippines, we would like to express and project the heart of the Filipino. For us, the best way to do that is to be fully a part of the heartbeat of the nation or in participating in the very big festival, a MassKara here in Bacolod which for us, it's really a symbol of the festive, fun and hospitality you bring to all the guests who come here to enjoy the festival," he said.
He added they want to promote the festival not just in the Philippines, but all over the world.
On Sunday, the concert dubbed "PAL Night" will feature Sponge Cola and other artists. The gates will open at 6 p.m.
Rene Aviles, PAL Bacolod branch manager, said concertgoers will also be treated to exciting game prizes, courtesy of PAL and its affiliate companies such as Asia Brewery, PNP Savings, PNP Credit Card, Eton Properties and Resorts World, as well as Mabuhay Miles, the flag carrier's passenger loyalty rewards company.
He said a PAL float will also join the electric MassKara parade on October 26 to 27.
PAL started flying to Bacolod in 1946 at the resumption of operations after the World War II.
Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the City Council committee on tourism, said Mayor Evelio Leonardia and the members of the City Council are thankful to PAL for hosting the opening salvo for the 39th edition of MassKara Festival.
She said MassKara has gone worldwide already and they just had a first MassKara Festival in California in July.
"It was a big success which was attended by Filipino-Americans in California and from other states in the United States. It was a very first festival outside of Bacolod," she added.
