THE Philippine Coast Guard-Southern Visayas hosted a mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activity in Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City on Saturday.
The said event was participated by barangay and purok officials in the coastal areas of the city.
The PCG also gave away food packs and sacks of rice in exchange for the sacks of trash collected in the coastal villages.
A contest was also held for the participating barangays, wherein those who have collected the most unique garbage and most collected sacks of trash will receive sacks of rice and grocery items.
The event was also participated by the City Environment Natural Resources Office, Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corporation, PCG-Auxiliary, and local fishing cooperatives in the city, PCG district commander, Captain Eduardo De Luna said.
