THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is conducting the 2017 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) with its rider Survey of Information and Communication Technology (SICT) from April 16 to June to include distribution and collection of forms.
The ASPBI, with 2017 as the reference year, covers around 631 sample establishments in the province.
The ASPBI aim to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance, and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy for the reference year 2017.
It will also gather data on employment, compensation, income, expense, total assets, capital expenditures and inventories and generate indicators from these variables.
Data items being collected for the ASPBI were based on the requirements of the System of National Accounts.
Results of the survey are being used in constructing national and regional income accounts of the Philippine economy, in formulating and monitoring plans/policies in the attainment of national and regional economic goals, and in determining and comparing regional economic structures and performances.
This method is utilized to meet the data requirements of each specific section of the economy as defined under the 2009 Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC).
While the rider 2017 Survey of Information and Communication Technology (SICT) collects information on the availability, distribution and access/utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) in business and industry in the country.
The data collected from the 2017 SICT will be valuable in measuring progress in information communication technology in the country which is seen to help decision makers in both public and the private sector in developing policy measures and in making an investment in ICT.
Negros Occidental will have about 140 sample establishments for SICT.
Joely Cabarles, officer-in-charge of Provincial Statistics Office, appealed to all sample establishments to cooperate and support the conduct of this undertaking.
PSA also assures that all information gathered shall be kept strictly confidential and cannot be used for taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under the Article 55 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 10625. (PR)
