THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to strictly enforce the "no parking" policy along Lacson and Araneta Streets.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, was approved during their regular session Wednesday.
Distrito said BCPO and BTAO should strictly enforce the "no parking" policy along Lacson and Araneta Streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to prevent double-parking of vehicles particularly in these frequently congested streets of Bacolod.
He said it has been observed that the enforcement of the 'No Parking Zones' has declined, which is the reason why there are vehicular congestions in these areas.
"Traffic management requires the active cooperation of all traffic and law enforcers the reason why the City Government needs the assistance of our BCPO personnel in teaming up with our traffic enforcers in the strict implementation of our traffic ordinances," he added.
Distrito noted that the portions of Lacson and Araneta Streets have been identified as No Parking Zones by SP from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
"It is the duty of the local government to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles in major streets, as well as to protect the lives and properties of its inhabitants," Distrito said.
