KILUSANG Pagbabago–Negros (KP-Negros), a grassroots-based volunteer group which supports President Rodrigo Duterte and his administration's programs, will celebrate its second anniversary on Saturday, August 11, with a program at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City.
"Our members have been volunteer campaigners for President Duterte during the election period, and we carry this spirit of volunteerism as we enter the third year of his term. We spent our own resources during the campaign, and we still dig into our own pockets for our transportation and food, when we mobilize to express our continued support for our President and his administration," said Archie Baribar, KP-Negros spokesperson.
The group will assemble at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Provincial Capitol and surrounding areas and will march into the Nompac gym for the program.
Thousands of farmers, farm workers, ordinary laborers, plain housewives, youth and senior citizens from all over the province are expected to attend.
"As in our past mass mobilizations and advocacy work, our members pay for their own transportation and bring their own food," Baribar said.
In keeping with the activity's theme of "Change thru Participation in Governance" (Pagbag-o Paagi sa Pagpakigbahin sa Panghimanwa), the first speaker will be Undersecretary Joselito Libres of the Office of Participatory Governance.
Libres is expected to expound on how ordinary citizens can participate more actively in crafting government policies and directing more responsive programs.
Another guest speaker is Arthur Aguilar, a member of the Charter Change Consultative Committee which crafted the draft federal constitution for the country.
Aguilar will discuss how the shift towards a federal form of government will benefit the people in the countrysides, particularly those who live away from the center of power in Manila.
Special Assistant to the President Bong Go has also expressed a keen interest to participate in the KP-Negros second-year anniversary. (PR)
