THE reshuffling of election officers in Negros Occidental for the May 13 elections is underway according to the province's Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Salus Milagros Villanueva.
For the poll body, the reshuffling of key election officers is intended to remove any possible perception of partiality on the part of the Commission on Elections officials.
Meanwhile, Villanueva reminded the public of the imposition of the gun ban which will also start during the election period from January 13 until June 12.
The campaign period for candidates for senator and party-list groups will be from February 12 to May 11, with campaigning prohibited on March 28 (Holy Thursday) and March 29 (Good Friday).
Moreover, the campaign period for candidates for members of the House of Representatives and elective regional, provincial, city, and municipal officials will run from March 30 to May 11.
Campaigning is prohibited from May 12 to 13, which is also the period for the liquor ban. The gun ban runs for the entire election period.
Starting November 30, 2018 until midday of Election Day, the substitute of an official candidate of a political party or coalition, who died or was disqualified by final judgment, may file their certificate of candidacy, provided that the substitute candidate and the substituted candidate have the same surname.
The last day for candidates to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures will be on June 12, 2019.
Negros Occidental will have more than 1.8 million voters on May 13 elections. (TDE)
