A SECURITY guard was injured after he was shot by four unidentified armed men who entered the Lumina Subdivision, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City Thursday morning, December 10.
Police identified the victim as David Albarquez, 40, of Purok Narang, Barangay Malingin, Bago City.
Police Lieutenant Conrado Espino Jr., chief of Police Station 7, said the armed men also disarmed Albarquez's companion Alddy Granton, 33, of Purok Pedring, Barangay Estefania around 2:45 a.m.
Investigation showed the four armed men, who were wearing bonnets, entered at the back portion of the subdivision and they proceeded to the covered court of the subdivision. They immediately disarmed Granton, who was assigned to the area.
The armed men took Granton's issued firearm and wallet.
Espino said the armed men then ransacked the security guard's office and took the bulletproof vests and they went to the entrance of the subdivision where Albarquez was assigned.
The perpetrators also fired their guns, but Albarquez managed to retaliate and sought the assistance of the police.
Albarquez sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg. He was brought to a hospital while the armed men escaped.
The police are eyeing robbery or personal grudge as possible motives on the incident.
Espino said they are still conducting further investigation to identity the armed men.
