A REPLICA of the original image of the Santo Niño de Cebu given before by explorer Ferdinand Magellan to Rajah Humabon and his wife when he first set foot in the island of Cebu in 1521, is at the Santo Niño Shrine and Parish located at BBB Galo in Barangay 20, Bacolod City.
Devotee Edsol Celestial, who was among those who brought the image with a relic (a piece of the vestment) of the original image which was placed at the foot of the replica image now at the Santo Niño Shrine, said devotees can visit every first Friday of the month for the traditional religious belief of "Palapak" and can pray before the image.
"We got the relic at the Basilica del Santo Niño in Cebu and we brought it here to Bacolod City. The replica image was brought here in the city last January 10, 2017," he said.
This replica image was kept in glass encasing.
During the burning of the other Santo Niño image recently by an unknown culprit, it not seen as parish priest Rev. Fr. Tomas Rito made sure that this image will be protected.
As to the miracle of the image, there is a cancer patient from Murcia who venerates to the replica image and was believed to be cured by divine intervention, Celestial said.
