BACOLOD City District Engineer Abraham Villareal confirmed yesterday, May 30, that the study for the comprehensive drainage master plan for Bacolod is now ongoing.
Villareal said two executives from Pert Consultants, who are based in Bataan, visited his office on Monday, May 28, for the preliminary activity of the city's drainage master plan.
He said the consultants will conduct a study for 10 months, and that as soon as they could finish their study, the city can use their findings.
Villareal noted that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had earlier allotted P16 million for the study, but it was reduced to P14 million.
The budget covers the consultancy work and the preparations of the feasibility report.
Villareal said the drainage master plan is a big help for Bacolod to address the flood problems.
"If we have a drainage master plan we can identify the drainages that passing through the local roads," he said.
The comprehensive master plan, which was earlier requested by Bacolod Representative Greg Gasataya, involves both national and local roads.
Villareal said that they will connect the national and local drainages to address the flood problems.
"After their study, the drainage master plan will be implemented in 2019 and they will request for another budget for its implementation," he said. (MAP)
