THE Traffic Management Unit (TMU) of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is asking the help of Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in addressing the traffic situation of the city, especially that classes will open on June 4.
Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of TMU, in an interview with ABS-CBN Bacolod, said personnel of MMDA will be coming to the city when classes start to check the actual traffic situation, especially during rush hour.
"They want to personally check the scenario for them to suggest proper measures to address the traffic problem," Acebuche added.
Meanwhile, Acebuche said they will not implement rerouting during the opening of classes as it can also cause traffic congestion in some areas in the city.
But, he assured that traffic enforcers will be deployed at every intersection to declog the traffic.
Acebuche also said the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will be coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the completion of the road construction along Lacson streets that also contributes to one of the traffic problems.
The road construction is expected to be completed on October but BTAO is worrying if the target can be reached because of the rainy season.
He, however, said that BTAO will make the necessary preparations to somehow address the traffic situation in the city while the construction of drainage projects is ongoing.

Fire destroys P500K worth of properties
A FIRE destroyed a house and left an estimated damage of P500,000 to properties at Barangay Paraiso, Sagay City, Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
Investigation showed that the fire started when the electrical socket at the main wooden panel door of the house owned by 63-year-old Virginia Hortinela ignited around 11:30 p.m.
They tried to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire but it quickly spread as the house was made of light materials.
