THE Philippine Army's 79th Infantry "Masaligan" Battalion provided security during the distribution of social amelioration grant in Manapla and Talisay City on Saturday, April 18.
About 4,077 qualified beneficiaries received SAP grant amounting to P6, 000 each from Barangays Dos Hermanos, Katilingban, San Fernando, and Lizares of Talisay City and Barangay Chambery of the Municipality of Manapla based on the record of the DSWD offices of the two local government units.
The activity was assisted by 79IB together with the PNP, BFP, and councils of the said barangays to ensure public order and safety during the distribution of financial assistance.
The move is in accordance with the Republic Act 11469, otherwise known as "Bayanihan to Heal as One" Act which empowers the national government to provide an emergency cash subsidy to the poorest of the poor families affected by the ECQ.
Lieutenant Colonel Gerard T. Alvaran, Commanding Officer of 79th IB said, "This unit together with the PNP and BFP, as well as other government agencies will work hand in hand to ensure quick and smooth distribution of cash aid to the beneficiaries. SAP is one of the aids to lessen the financial burden brought by the Covid-19 to the affected families. I encourage everyone to cooperate and help one another to fight and stop this crisis. Let us do our part as we heal as one."
