VILLAGE chieftain Jose Maria Leandro Norberto de Leon of Barangay Vista Alegre on Thursday, May 31, confirmed that he is planning to run for Liga ng mga Barangay (league of barangays) president in July.
De Leon said it still depends on the decision of his group.
"Whatever their decision, I will follow," he said.
He said the Liga ng mga Barangay is a venue for the barangay captains to discuss the problems within their barangays.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran had earlier announced that De Leon, as well as village chiefs Rosinie Distrito of Barangay Singcang-Airport and Anthony Ayco of Barangay 25, had showed their intention to run for Liga ng mga Barangay president.
Familiaran said the incumbent Liga ng mga Barangay President, Councilor Noli Villarosa, can still run for the said position.
Some of the barangay captains also showed their support to Distrito, a brother of Councilor Caesar Distrito.
Meanwhile, De Leon also expressed his disappointment with Villarosa's performance as Liga ng mga Barangay president.
De Leon recalled that in previous years, he sent a letter to Villarosa to submit a financial statement but until now, he failed to show it.
"He should show us the financial statement so we will know our funds," he said.
