OLIVIA Yanson, matriarch of the Yanson clan that runs Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), parent company of the Ceres bus liner, has given an order to close down the Ceres Mart at the Ceres Northbound Terminal in Bacolod City's Barangay Bata.
In an order signed by the Yanson matriarch last July 26 and addressed to her daughter, Emily, she ordered the closure of the food establishment, claiming her daughter had failed to pay rent for the use of the space since the terminal opened in 2015.
"I am respectfully giving you 24 hours to vacate. This is our last and final demand," the matriarch added.
Ceres Mart, in a statement, said that while they are independent company from that of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC), they have been caught in the crossfire of the ongoing management crisis.
The company said two days after the Yanson matriarch issued the order, padlocks were placed on the front entrance of the store.
Ceres Mart also said that it has been constantly harassed by armed guards and supporters of the Yanson matriarch, until Tuesday, August 6, when power in the establishment was cut off.
"While we sympathize with all members of the YGBC family in their current situation, we cannot help but make ourselves be heard too," the statement added.
The management said it was only making a living by selling bread, treats, and groceries for the convenience of the riding public, thus it asked to be spared from the current unrest within the company.
