A YOUNG adult is facing frustrated homicide charges after he hit a nine-year-old girl with an improvised firearm at Barangay 2, Bacolod City on Thursday.
Police withheld the name of the victim.
Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, said the victim was on her way out of the computer shop when she was hit by a stray bullet allegedly perpetrated by Justine Murillo, 21, of Barangay 3.
Murillo was supposed to shoot a certain "Jun-Jun," but the minor was hit.
Murillo and Jun-Jun have a grudge against each other that caused the suspect to shoot the latter when he saw him at the area.
However, Jun-Jun was able to run and was unharmed.
Police recovered from the scene an empty cartridge of an improvised 12 gauge shotgun.
The minor sustained gunshot wounds on her chest and right arm and was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Murillo was arrested in pursuit operations at Barangay 3 on the same day. He is detained at the police station. (Faith Hope Lauren, STI West Negros University intern)
