JEERS to a member of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) for testing positive for illegal drug use.

VoxPop Bacolod reported Friday, September 7, that a personnel of Police Station 7 failed miserably in the drug test, a test that all of his comrades, even his commander, have passed with flying colors.

Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, city police acting director, confirmed that this erring cop has a rank of Police Officer 1.

He was among the 71 BCPO personnel who underwent a random drug test at the headquarters on July 18.

Personnel from 10 police stations and members of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) submitted their urine samples for the test.

After this policeman was found out to be using drugs, he was immediately disarmed and restricted, although a confirmatory test will still be conducted should he chose to undergo it.

The erring cop will be given due process.

If found guilty, he will be charged with an administrative case for grave misconduct. And maybe discharged from the police service.

Drug testing is part of the police's internal cleansing program to ensure that nobody from their ranks is influenced by illegal drugs.

The scalawags should be ashamed of themselves. Their agency has all the support of President Rodrigo Duterte, they also have a big budget from the national government. Their salaries were raised and they can even avail a housing program - all these benefits in exchange for their uncorrupted public service.

Yet, they chose to be on the other side.
