THE Tulfo family drama took an interesting turn after self-appointed patriarch, Ramon Tulfo, reprimanded his younger siblings, former Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo and Ben Tulfo, over the controversial advertisement placement of P60 million in Ben's television program.
Ramon, the eldest in the brood of 10, blasted his sister and brother following the mess, as it also led Teo to resign from her post.
The Commission on Audit (COA) found irregularities in Teo's leadership following the P60 million ad placements on "Kilos Pronto," a block time program hosted by Ben and their other brother, Erwin, over government-run station PTV-4 even without proper documents.
Ben and Erwin also signified they will return the P60 million.
But this doesn't stop Ramon from lecturing his younger siblings.
In his column with the Philippine Daily Inquirer Thursday, May 10, Ramon said he is not trying to get Wanda off the hook as the incident may constitute plunder, he just wanted the people to know the real story.
He blamed Wanda for not getting an intelligent people as they would have advised her against the contract with PTV 4 since Ben was a blocktimer there.
He also blasted Wanda's husband for not taking the initiative of resigning from the board of Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (Tieza), an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Even Teo's legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, was not safe. Ramon said his sister's lawyer is all talk and does not care about his client.
Ramon was also critical of Ben, whom he said suffered from the "middle child syndrome." He also said Ben is the renegade and black sheep of their family.
He pointed out that the deal was Ben's fault, not Wanda's but the former insisted on his innocence.
The elder Tulfo even commended President Rodrigo Duterte for sacking Wanda.
He said he is supporting Wanda's fight to clear her name, but not Ben's.
Ben has yet to publicly issue a statement. Although it is interesting to know what goes behind the closed door after Ramon's column came out yesterday.
