"Peryahan ng Bayan" got into trouble again as authorities swooped down the establishment, not just one but two, Monday to shut down its operations.
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation held simultaneous operations in two "Peryahan" outlets in the cities of Bacolod, and Escalante.
This led to the arrest of 12 employees in the Escalante branch and 10 workers in Bacolod City including its Provincial Administrator Lito Estember. Authorities also confiscated computers, number games paraphernalia, among others.
Authorities insisted that the operator of these establishments has no authority to operate from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), therefore, it is considered illegal.
This is the second time the establishment in Bacolod got shut down.
The first time was last month. But the operator, Globaltech Mobile Online Corporation, resisted and continued with their operation.
In fact, Globaltech has filed grave coercion and alarm and scandal against the PCSO team.
This prompted PCSO to tap the assistance of the NBI to halt the operations of the establishment because they were unsuccessful to shut down the facility the first time around.
Kudos to PCSO for standing its ground, as it insisted Globaltech is operating the illegal numbers games.
