THE Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc., an organizer of the 2023 MassKara Festival, will conduct an investigation into the alleged selling of overpriced chicken inasal around the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Von Maungca, team leader in marketing, promotions, and inter-agency concerns of the foundation, said Monday, October 9, that they already formed a team to inspect the kiosks around the BCGC.
He said before the festival, they also met the kiosk owners and reminded them to offer an affordable price to the MassKara revelers.
This was after some netizens were complaining that the chicken inasal at BCGC was priced at P180.
Maungca said last year, the chicken inasal was sold for P130 only.
Aside from the price, he said the site supervisor team will also inspect the sanitary compliance of the kiosk occupants at various festival sites, including its permits.
“We will identity first the kiosk owner who was allegedly selling overpriced chicken inasal and we will call its attention,” he added.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said in the next festival, they will incorporate the price ceiling in the contracts of the kiosk occupants.
He said this year, the foundation already lowered the rental fees of the kiosks so the occupants should also offer an affordable price for their products.
“So there is no reason for them to go higher,” he added.*
