BAGO City's Rogen Ladon won a silver medal in the recently-concluded 2018 President's International Boxing Cup held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Ladon, who is also a Rio de Janeiro Olympian, failed to beat host fighter Anvar Muzaparov with a decision loss in the finals of the 52 kilogram weight division.
The Bago City pride reached the championship round of the week-long event after a 5-0 unanimous decision victory in the semifinals against AIBA World Youth Championship gold medalist Sachiin Siwach of India.
It was Ladon's second upset in the finals against a Kazakh opponent.
Last year, he also bowed to Zhomart Yerzhan by split decision during the championship match of the 17th AIBA World Championship in Hamburg, Germany.
Eventual champion Muzaparov defeated Japanese Ryusei Baba, 5-0, to secure the finals berth.
Ladon was the lone Filipino boxer to take home a medal in the competition after teammates Charly Suarez, Caroline Calungsod, Ramel Macado, and Jorge Edusma failed in their respective events.
