Cauayan boxer loses in China

NEGRENSE Jayr Raquinel of Cauayan town tasted his first career loss Friday when he yielded to newly-crowned World Boxing Council silver flyweight champion Wulan Tuolehazi in a unanimous decision at the Changsha Social Work College gymnasium in Changsha, China.

After 12 rounds of boxing, Tuolehazi was favored as judges Ernesto and Porfirio Alejandro Gomez Rueda scored 116-111 apiece while Miguel Morgan registered 117-110.

With the loss, Raquinel dropped his record to 10 wins and a loss with 7 knockouts while Tuolehazi improved his stats to 9 wins, 3 defeats and a draw with 4 stoppages.

"My gratitude to all who supported me. My apologies for disappointing you. But, we will return strong in the next fight," said Raquinel, who, despite the loss, remained the OPBF champion. (HGD)
