REIGNING Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Zonal champion Ceres Negros Football Club (FC) aims to defend home tonight and write another history when they face Yangon United FC of Myanmar at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
Despite missing out on the top spot of Group F after dropping their last assignment against Home United of Singapore, the Filipino side secured the spot in the semis after finishing best runner-up team in the Asean.
Ceres FC Coach Risto Vidakovic said that they are now focused on winning the match and earn edge ahead of the second leg.
"We set aside our previous games and work on our game against Yangon United. They are a strong team and we have to be prepared," he said.
Meanwhile, expecting an offensive-minded Myanmar side, Ceres FC defender Junior Munoz said that they are ready and will do their best to make the home crowd happy.
"The good crowd at Panaad will fuel us to play harder," Vidakovic added.
Yangon United, which qualified for the semis after dominating Group G, is expected to bring a tough challenge against the home side.
The Myanmar side, which reached the knockout stage since 2014, has traveled almost eight hours and nearly 2,000 miles from Yangon to reach Bacolod City.
"We traveled a long way and we know Ceres FC is strong. But, we are ready to give our all in this match," said Yangon mentor Myo Min Tun do.
Ceres FC's striker Bienvenido Marañon and Yangon's forward Sekou Sylla, who have both scored seven goals apiece are expected to lead their respective teams.
