THE Europe-Africa's Emilia Romagna LL from Bologna, Italy struck out Negros First softball team representing Asia-Pacific in yesterday's quarterfinals, 2-0, in the ongoing Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
Italian Martina Colonna made her team's first score on top of first after which Sarah Bortolotti booked their second in the top of seventh.
The Negrenses tried to pull a win in the bottom of the seventh but only reached first base and failed to advance to the next.
With the loss, the Negrenses will play for the Friendly Games against Southeast whom they suffered a 6-3 defeat in the opener.
Europe-Africa will face Snow Canyon LL Santa Clara, Utah representing the West in the semi-finals. It was recalled that West dominated Europe-Africa in their initial face-off, 18-4.
Also seeing action in the other semi-final match is Southeast's Keystone/West Tampa/Bayshore LL of Tampa, Florida and East's Cranston Nat Budlong Girls Softball LL from Cranston, Rhode Island.
