BAGO City's boxing pride Rogen Ladon failed to bring home the gold medal in the men's flyweight division of the 2018 Asian Games after losing to Uzbekistan's JasurbekLatipov in a referee-stopped contest at the Jakarta International Expo in Indonesia.
Ladon has a good opening round performance before he suffered a cut in his left eye that forced the ring doctor to recommend for the match's stoppage.
Despite the defeat, Ladon gave the Philippines its second silver medal in addition to the country's 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 15 bronze medals.
The Negrense boxer advanced to the finals following a unanimous decision win over Thai Tondee Yuttapong in the semifinals last Friday.
The Bago City fighter scored a masterful 5-0 performance against the rugged Thai boxer: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27.
Filipino boxers Eumir Marcial and Carlo Paalam settled for bronze medals after losing to their respective opponents.
Marcial bowed to Israil Madrimov of Uzbekistan while Paalam lost to Amit of India, 3-2 apiece.
Boxing Coach Nolito Velasco, also from Bago City, thanked everyone who prayed and supported them in their Asian Games campaign.
China closed the Asian Games with 132 gold medals with 92 silver and 65 bronze medals followed by Japan (75-56-74), Republic of Korea (49-58-70) and host-Indonesia (31-24-43). (HGD)
