FORMER Bacolod congressman and Mayor Monico Puentevella will be joining Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Mariano "Nonong" Araneta this June when the 2018 Fifa World Cup kicks off in Moscow, Russia.

Puentevella, who also served as Fifa Director for Media for four years, and Fifa Director for Television and Marketing for another four years will be attending the Fifa Congress on June 12.

Prior to his appointment to Fifa, Puentevella also served as president of the Negros Occidental Football Association and PFF Vice President for 12 years.

During the Fifa Congress, Puentevella is expecting the assembly to acknowledge the Philippine men's team, Azkals' improvement through the years, which recently ranked No.111, as well as its qualification to the AFC Asian Cup – joining the 23 other Asian countries for the first time in history.
