THE University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu (RHTSS) at 6-0 is already assured of top spot in the 2018 Negros Basketball Association President's Cup following its last win, a 132-110 domination of Melfern on May 5 at Po Hang gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
The Rams in RHTSS uniform has only to face LCC/Davies Paint/J Squared Construction (1-4) on May 12 and USLS Freeze Sportswear (2-4) on May 19 to confirm its best place after the single round elimination.
Running second is Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias/Silver Dragon (6-1) has to contend with dangerous Supreme ABF Silvergraces at 5:30 p.m. on May 13. Supreme succumbed to ESJ/YBAC/Fyr Fyter, 88-91, on Sunday sending both at 4-2 cards.
YBAC also beat Duke Jay Game Farm, 109-77, on Saturday relegating Duke JG Farmers to 5th place at 3-4. Melfern took temporarily the 6th spot by virtue of its 90-88 triumph over USLS on April 28 and both on a 2-4 slate.
The top team will wait for the winner between number 3 and number 6 in a knockout QF match while the number 2 has to contend with the winner between 4 and 5 quarter-finalists.
The top two teams have a twice to beat advantage in the semifinals. (HGD)
