A HUNDRED blood donors simultaneously participated in the blood donation drive for a period of 10 minutes in the province of Benguet.
The Provincial Local Blood Council in Benguet launched the "100 Donors in 10 Minutes" on July 31 at La Trinidad municipal gym.
Benguet Red Cross Administrator Oscar Paris said the symbolic event was conducted in lieu of the regular mobile blood donation.
The event highlighted the Blood Donors Month which underscores the "no replacement and no-paid donors" campaign to secure pure voluntary blood donation and sustain the availability of blood when a stakeholder in need.
At least 132 blood donors were recorded donating 450 cubic centimeter (cc) each.
From January to June this year, some 42 mobile donations where conducted in the province with 1,800 units of blood collected.
During the extraction, physicians, medical technicians, and the local government unit lend their assistance together with the Philippine Military Academy.
Paris added they are also looking forward to the improvement of the blood collection and hope that the first time donors be sustained and become regular blood donors.
"We will consider one lane closed along the highway so that the public will see how we work with the voluntary blood donation," he added.
On Monday, the province accepted 11 grantees for the "Study Now Pay Later" program for the Doctors of Medicine.
Authored by Board Member Juan Nazarro Jr, the ordinance approved for Doctor of Medicine and other medical related courses needed in the province.
For the Doctor of Medicine, the applicant must have finished any related four-year course to be able to pursue his study on Doctor of Medicine in any medical school in Luzon and must have passed the National Medical Admission Test.
