BAGUIO City's 13th day of Covid–19-free streak ended April 10 as health teams in the Summer Capital race to contact trace four barangays.
Rosemarie Cantong, 46, resident of Upper Dagsian, who works as a street sweeper in Scout Barrio tested positive for Covid-19 on Good Friday.
However, Canatong's partner, John Valenzuela and their five–year–old son have tested negative with test results coming in Saturday, April 11.
Both have called on persons they came in contact with since April 1 to subject themselves to quarantine and to seek consultation if they have symptoms.
Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered an aggressive contact tracing as well as a lockdown for Upper and Lower Dagsian, Hillside and Scout Barrio, areas where Canatong had interactions.
A total of 154 suspected cases had undergone rapid tests. Five of them had positive results but of these five, four had negative results based on the PCR confirmatory test at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.
The city now has a total of 15 confirmed patients with nine recoveries and one fatality.
Cantong first experienced symptoms on April 3 and had her check-up on April 7, as a barangay worker, the street sweeper has had interactions with barangay officials and residents.
Magalong also directed barangay officials to observe quarantine protocol.
Magalong added Cantong had also been to Police Station 4 and the Women and Children Protection Desk to report domestic problems which likewise prompted police personnel to go on isolation.
Cantong's partner, Valenzuela is a 58–year–old taxi driver but he claimed to have stopped working since the lockdown.
