AN ECUMENICAL service and beating of gongs kicked off the official opening of Adivay 2018 and 118th Founding Anniversary of Benguet province.
Governor Crescencio Pacalso declared the official opening of Adivay and 118 year of the province while acknowledging all those who helped build the province despite adversities, and owed the culture and resiliency of the people.
"This culture that we have and we should be proud of it as we start this year's celebration. Let us always keep in mind the lord who continue to bless us all, our ancestors who make the ways given the right direction to all of us what we have become today," Pacalso added.
As part of the celebration 26 representatives from the 13 towns vying for the Mr. & Ms. Benguet crown garb in their ethnic wear was presented to the public at the Benguet capitol grounds.
"Adivay" is an Ibaloi term which pertains to "coming together."
The celebration is a gathering of Benguet's 13 towns in this provincial capital carrying the theme "Benguet Culture-Unity, Industry, Prosperity: Managing Adversities with Excellence thru Enhanced Indigenous Resilience."
The month long celebration features more than 60 activities from November 5 to December 9.
