DESPITE the threat of being infected by the coronavirus disease or Covid-19, the 7,000 strong personnel of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) remain free from the dreaded virus.
PRO-COR Director General R'win Pagkalinawan explained all necessary precautions have been undertaken by the Regional Command to ensure medical health safety of all police personnel with special attention to those in the frontlines.
"We are glad to report to you that as of the moment, we do not have any personnel that have been classified as positive for Covid-19, All in all we had around 40 suspected cases but have all turned out negative, they underwent the quarantine procedures," Police Brigadier Pagkalinawan said.
Testing kits have also been provided for the Regional Command for Police personnel during their deployment.
Aside from acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE) within in the first week of implementation of the enhanced community quarantine, the Regional Command is currently in the process of acquiring an additional 300 PPE's for augmented personnel deployed in Baguio City and La Trinidad.
"Initially we were provided with rapid test kits and at region, we established our own quarantine tents having 64 rooms and individual tents to accommodate as much as Covid-suspected policemen which turned out negative. This was also instituted in the Provincial, City and Municipal police stations as measure to address the medical needs of our Police front liners," the regional director stated.
Pagkalinawan added that even if the quarantine status will change, PRO-COR is still ready to apply all security actions needed in the implementation.
