A 16–year–old girl was left for dead at the bottom of a 10-meter deep ravine in Pitpitan, Bayabas, Sablan, Benguet on September 9.
Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio, provincial director of the Benguet Provincial Police Office said the minor, name withheld to protect her, is from Caba, La Union and currently a resident of Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union.
The girl, who passed out after she was struck in the head with rocks, crawled and climbed out of the ravine upon regaining consciousness.
Two of the four suspects were arrested at 9 a.m. Sunday, September 9. The two others, both male, were still at large as of Monday, September 10.
Arrested were an 18-year-old female senior high school student from San Juan, La Union and a 20–year-old female student from Lingsat, San Fernando City. Police withheld their identities.
They are facing frustrated murder charges. Both are being detained at the Sablan Municipal Police Station.
Initial investigation revealed that on September 8, the girl was convinced by the four suspects to join them for a night out in San Fernando City.
In the early morning of September 9, the victim went on a joyride with the suspects to Sablan, where the two female suspects struck her in the head.
Their two male companions then allegedly carried her and threw her down the ravine.
Mencio said the victim managed to climb out of the ravine and seek help from Nelson Alinio, owner of a nearby house who informed the Sablan Municipal Police Station and the Bureau of Fire Protection medical team.
The victim was brought to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
