AIMING to give back to the community, the Lions Club conducted sponsored optometric consultation, cataract operation, and gave glasses to over 500 residents at the municipal hall of Sagada town Saturday, May 12.
In addition, the group will also conduct diabetes screening, dental screening and tooth extraction.
Participating Lions Club partners are the Yonkers Millennium Lions Club with president Teresita Angos and mission chair Emma Dumalag, Bless Punzalan, Ophelia Pajel.
Members include Rene Punzalan, Sara Fernandez, Silvia Estebanez, Joanne and Laura O'Hanlon with past district governors Lorri and Fred Rieger.
Serving as volunteers are Normita Marquez, Midi Kawashima
Vagie Collanto-Leon, Cristina Meimban, Victoria Pangilinan, Jerome Marlex Nuguid, Aries Alfaro, Thelma Lat and Jeramie Jacinto.
The group will also be joined by Baguio Everlasting Lions Club president Marie Joycelyn Balderas and Baguio Region chair past president Joanne Balderas and mission chair Conchita Pooten together with Dannah Gonzales, Teresita Mabutas, Mildred Valdez, Tamer Virginia Watson Lucy Blancas, Rosemarie Tuanquin with project coordinator Sonia Daoas, and Regina Madriaga.
Partner Organization and agencies include Sagada Mountain Province Local Government Unit and the Rural Health Unit represented by Doctor Jesebel Diazen-Laus.
Former Sagada Mayor Edward Latawan; Spouses Rene and Grace Fortaleza of Vallejo, California and Sia Claire Carias of Boston, Massachusetts were also instrumental for the success of the project.
Dental kits were provided by Yonkers Millennium and toiletries from the Cordillera News Agency with books and toys by Baguio Everlasting's Conchita Pooten.
