BENGUET General Hospital will soon impose parking fees.
Chief of Hospital III Maria Imelda Ulep said the parking fees collected will be utilized to maintain the perimeter roads and pavement surrounding the hospital.
"The parking fees will be part of income of the Benguet General Hospital which will be re-appropriated next year for our operations," said Ulep.
Ulep, who presented the proposal to the members of the Benguet Provincial Board, added that with the additional income from the parking fee, they aim to strengthen the medical facility and emergency services, operating room services and intensive care unit.
She said the implementing rules and regulations on parking fees remain a proposal with only 54 slots as designated pay parking area.
Clients and visitors with official transactions in the hospital will be exempted from paying parking fee, she added.
The Provincial Tax Ordinance 15-176 was used as basis in the proposed pay parking at the hospital compound.
If the proposal is approved, a parking fee of P40 will be collected for the first two hours and additional P20 per hour for the succeeding hours, as well as an overnight parking P200.
The pay parking area located within the hospital compound will be on a first come, first served basis.
Moreover, all unoccupied parking areas, including those assigned for employees, tenants, OJTs, and registered nurses on duty will be included as pay parking when designated parking areas are all occupied.
As an economic enterprise, the Provincial Government subsidizes P30 million for maintenance and other operating expenses of the hospital, which has a P220-million estimated operations costs per annum.
