THE POLICE Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) launched its "Clean Rider" campaign to encourage citizens to help prevent crime, especially those perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects.
A total of 462 motorcycle riders from Baguio City and province of Benguet took part in the simultaneous launching of the PNP campaign at Camp Bado Dangwa.
Motorcycles under the "Clean Rider" program will be marked with stickers that will help policemen at checkpoints identify legitimate motorcycle riders.
All motorcycle riders are encouraged to apply for stickers by submitting the official receipt and certificate of registration of their motorcycle, driver's license and other valid identification cards.
With these requirements, the police will process their application and will verify whether or not their motorcycle had been involved in previous violations or crime incidents.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, regional director of PRO-COR, said the event shows their strong commitment to strengthen and build a strong foundation for the campaign against criminality, specifically cases involving motorcycle-riding suspects.
"Let us accelerate our efforts in order that our citizens will enjoy the benefits of closer ties and enhanced partnership and cooperation," he said.
Motorcycle riders expressed their full support to the program. They will also serve as force multipliers who will assist tourists and other riders by conducting motorcycle patrols in their respective areas of responsibility.
"This is also an opportune time to steer the culture of volunteerism and civic engagement in advocating a well-disciplined and responsible law officers of the road, as PROCOR underscores the massive move to eliminate crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects," added Nana.
