Even the office of the municipal mayor of La Trinidad, Benguet were not spared by pranksters.
Municipal hall workers on Sunday, July 8, found out the mayor's office was forcibly opened.
Initial investigation revealed at 5:30 p.m. of July 8, George Babsa-ay, a municipal government employee, reported to police after alleged thieves broke into the mayor's office.
It was learned that the main glass door of the office was earlier opened by Jude Yunson, a legal aide of the mayor's office, at about 12:45 p.m., July 8, to meet with some volunteers who wanted to help a kidney patient.
During his meeting, Yunson noticed one of the drawers of the mayor's staff was slightly opened. But he ignored it.
Wilsenia Belwa Dilla, an administrative aide, also went to the municipal hall later in the afternoon and saw Yunson with some individuals inside the Lednicky Hall.
Dilla then proceeded inside the mayor's staff office and found six drawers were open.
Further investigation revealed no important documents were missing while the P300 which was initially reported to police as missing had been found.
La Trinidad Municipal Police Station head Chief Inspector Benson Macliing said they were reviewing CCTV (closed circuit television) footage while two latent prints were lifted.
"Our first conclusion about the incident was alleged thief but when we had an inventory this morning, all of the things were intact, so it falls into a malicious mischief," Macliing said. (Fionna Mel Kathy Felicitas, MMSU intern)
