THE Philippine Military Academy (PMA) urged the public to refrain from sharing videos of hazing in the academy.
Captain Cheryl Tindog, PMA information officer, said they have same sentiment with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and as respect to the victims and the parents and families of the cadets involved.
"There are well meaning people who have brought the videos to our attention so that we can take appropriate actions, even without publicly offending those who do not deserve to be offended," Tindog said.
She also advised holders of videos, photos or any material that involve PMA cadets and personnel to forward them to the military institution.
"We will highly appreciate if they will be coursed through proper channel by sending us a private message on our social media account," Tindog added.
Holders of videos and photos involving cadets are asked to email PMA at pio_pma@yahoo.com or landline at (074) 4473292.
Brigadier General Romeo Brawner Jr., PMA commandant of cadets, said they have already made an appeal to the public to refrain from spreading the videos inside the academy.
To recall, videos of PMA cadets being punched and kicked have surfaced online taken before the death of Cadet Fourth Class Darwin Dormitorio.
PMA earlier confirmed the videos circulating on social media involving their cadets were taken in 2017 and 2018.
On October 21, the academy confined the five cadets at the holding center involved for an immediate investigation utilizing the videos as a tools and bases for an impartial inquiry.
The other cadet in one of the videos was already discharged last year from the academy due to violation of the honor code.
Tindog said they have no knowledge as to who uploaded the videos and the links were only shared to the institution.
The AFP asked the public especially the netizens to refrain from spreading the videos as no one benefits from it.
AFP urged public to allow the PMA and the cadet corps to learn from their mistakes.
