AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in the Cordillera called for stricter traffic law enforcement related to road safety in the region.
"You will be expecting us to be strict but fair," said DOTr Regional Director Francis Almora in a meeting with operators and drivers on August 23.
"Mali iyong huhulihin mo para multahin mo. Iyong pagmumulta hindi iyon ang main focus natin. Hinuhuli natin iyong isang nagviviolate ng transportation laws para walang mapahamak na iba," he added.
Before becoming the regional director of DOTr-Cordillera, Almora was also the law enforcement service director of the Land Transportation Office in the country.
He said the heightened implementation means proper training of deputized enforcers and removing the paradigm that enforcers are fearsome.
"We always say that our focus is road safety. When we say road safety, it involves everybody. Lahat ng gumagamit ng daan involve," Almora said.
He said their office is accepting applicants for transportation regulation officers.
Once there is a strict issuance of license, he said expect lesser accidents on the road, adding that the collection of traffic fines is part of the system.
