A FEW months after his installation, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Director Eliseo Tanding was booted out Friday morning, April 12.
Police Major Carol Lacuata, Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-Cor) public information officer, explained the movements particularly in the provincial and city director level were based on the orders of the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.
"Police Colonel Eliseo Tanding is set to be assigned as the Provincial Director of Abra following the formal turnover from Police Colonel Ceasar Tanagan who will be reassigned to another post. Police Colonel Allen Rae Co assumes the post of City Director of Baguio," Lacuata said.
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, who also heads the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) and the Regional Development Council (RDC), questioned the changes in the leadership of the BCPO.
"We are again dismayed of this action by the PNP because just like in the past, they have not consulted nor given us the opportunity to know who their recommendations are and if we favor their recommendation," Domogan said.
Domogan has always been critical of PNP's system of replacing the top police officials in the city without proper consultation.
"What we want to know is do the changes in the city directorship conform with the Comelec rules on reassignments of positions during the election period, aside from why we were again not consulted with the changes for the BCPO top post," Domogan added.
