THE alleged gunman who shot a tricycle driver was arrested in Barangay Dumayco, Pennarubia, Abra in the early morning of September 6.

Delinger Diawan Omnas, 33, a barangay tanod (village watchman), allegedly shot Michael Buena Verzosa, 38, tricycle driver. He will be charged with frustrated homicide.

The suspect and victim were both drug surrenderees of Penarubia, Abra and are undergoing drug rehabilitation under the Penarubia 'KAYNGA" (an Itneg term meaning to care) Recovery and Wellness Program.

Versoza, however, intentionally dropped out of the program. He was on board his motorcycle when one of two men on another motorcycle shot him.

The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial hospital for medical treatment while the assailants fled.

Investigation revealed that Omnas and Versoza had an altercation while playing basketball a few days before the shooting incident.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) who processed the crime scene recovered one slug and one fired cartridge from a caliber .45 pistol.

The Bangued Municipal Police Station (MPS) conducted a speedy investigation and hot pursuit operations which resulted in the arrest of Omnas who is now under the custody of Bangued MPS.
